Alternatives to B -Complex vitamin supplements

AGE HAS COMPELLED ME TO LOOK more into vitamin supplements that not only make people look younger but feel and think younger. Thanks to the PowerBooks sale this August, I was able to buy books that dealt with my greatest concerns: brain-boosting supplements for better memory and for greater alertness so that I can think fast on certain situations; vitamins for detoxifying the body system to boost immunity and fend off diseases; and supplements for womens health concerns such as menopause, pregnancy and cardiovascular health.

There were several supplements that kept popping up on different books and that seemed to apply to the complications of aging, but what stood out the most were B-complex vitamins. They seemed like the answer to my prayers as their combination helps one obtain good skin, hair, nails and vision, as well as prepares one for pregnancy, aids in carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism, enhances immunity, makes one smarter, improves the memory, helps ease menopause, boosts ones energy, etc.

Sports Illustrated's Rick Reilly Thanks Readers for Raising Over ...

WASHINGTON, Aug. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- In a podcast featured exclusively on the Nothing But Nets campaign website (http://www.nothingbutnets.net), Sports Illustrated columnist Rick Reilly thanks the more than 17,000 individuals who responded to his May 5th column about malaria prevention with over $1.2 million in donations. In a just a few months, the UN Foundation and Rick Reilly together raised enough money to buy more than 100,000 insecticide treated nets to prevent malaria. The nets purchased will be distributed in Nigeria this fall. As Rick Reilly said in his podcast, "How sweet is that?"

"When I learned that one million kids die each year from malaria, and they wouldn't have to die if they only had a net hanging over them when they slept, I wrote a column in Sports Illustrated and said, if you've ever cut down a net, jumped over a net, watched the New Jersey Nets, worn a hair net, surfed the net, or loved fishnets send 10 bucks and maybe you could save a life," said Rick Reilly in the recording.

Your Health Comes First!

Before being diagnosed a diabetic in 2003, I did not focus a great deal on my diet or the nutritional value of the foods that I was eating. I never thought that food would be my enemy. But because so many foods that our families eat today are synthetic, processed and have poor nutritional value, I had to take a step back and make a lifestyle change. At first, I was in denial and informed my doctor that I wanted to try controlling my diabetes solely through watching my diet. After a follow-up visit, my blood-glucose levels had not made a significant change. So I began taking daily insulin shots to manage my blood sugar. In addition, there was an about-face with exercise and proper rest. I lost 65 pounds over the next 6 months. My body had not looked this good in a long time and my energy level was soaring.

Buns: The Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread

Sliced bread is a food we take for granted. It was not until 1928 that uniform slices of bread began popping out of our toasters. Evenly sliced loaves of bread were welcomed by the consumer and today are a symbol of American cuisine.

Pushing their way in between the loaves of sliced bread are hot dog and hamburger buns. So great is the demand for this style of bread that one can find the bun shelves in the grocery stores almost empty on weekends when there are fireman carnivals, family reunions and company picnics. The bun business is so great that bread makers have responded to the wishes of the consumer to make buns in different sizes to match the regular and super size hot dogs and hamburgers.

Buying buns today is not as simple as asking the spouse to stop off at the grocery and pick up a package of buns on his way home.
